Ms. Gillis founded Law Offices of Eileen S. Gillis in September 1996. She is a 1991 graduate of U.C. Davis Law School, where she served as a staff editor of the U.C. Davis Law Review. Admitted to the California State Bar in 1991, Ms. Gillis has practiced almost exclusively in family law for 17 years. Ms. Gillis also became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (M.F.T. #21420) in 1984, shortly after graduating with a Masters of Science degree from San Francisco State University. Before law school, Ms. Gillis practiced as an individual and family psychotherapist and learned skills in that field that translate well when representing clients in complicated child custody matters or serving as an expert witness to the court in custody litigation. Ms. Gillis has also sat as a member of the Sacramento County Court Private Child Custody Mediation Panel since 1996.
